DIY Beauty: Yogurt and Aloe Face Mask

We've partnered with Marie Claire Arabia to bring you a series of DIY beauty recipes for some quarantine pampering during the lockdown.

This face mask is great for hydrating oily, acne-prone skins types while repairing and rejuvenating sun-damaged tissues.

Greek Yogurt: Lactic acid promotes cell renewal reducing wrinkles, fine lines and sunspots, while the zinc present in yogurt fights breakouts, brightens and evens skin tones.

Aloe Vera: Long known for its healing and soothing properties, aloe vera’s anti-inflammatory properties also help reduce acne and irritations while stimulating cell growth. Make your own gel by blending the clear pulp of a few branches from a house plant. Fresh aloe vera stalks are also sold in the vegetable aisle of most health food stores.

Palmarosa Essential Oil: A common ingredient in skincare products, palmarosa is anti-bacterial and helps regulate sebum.

Recipe

  • 1 tbsp Unsweetened Greek Yogurt

  • 1 tbsp Aloe Vera Gel

  • 5 drops Palmarosa Essential Oil

Mix all ingredients in a bowl.

Apply to a clean face in a thin, even layer and let sit for 10-15 minutes. You may feel a light tingling sensation.

Wash off with warm water and finish with a splash of cold water to tighten pores.

When trying new recipes always start with a patch test, applying a small amount to the inside of your elbow to assure there are no skin sensitivities.

Use twice a week or as necessary. The recipe makes 2-3 masks and can be stored for a week in a closed container in the fridge.
